Job summary

Texas A&M University-San Antonio is seeking an Admissions Counselor II to identify, recruit, and support a diverse pool of admitted, enrolled, and underrepresented students. The role includes coordinating travel, planning recruiting activities, and mentoring applicants and parents through the admissions process.

The position collaborates with high school counselors, TAMUS departments, and colleagues to improve service, conducts on- and off-campus presentations, and maintains program records.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.
• Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Identifies, recruits, and contributes to increasing the population of admitted, enrolled, and underrepresented students.
• Develops an effective plan for recruiting in the assigned area(s) and schools.
• Coordinates with high school counselors to facilitate the applications process.
• Tracks and follows up with targeted students and parents.
• Advises prospective students about admissions statuses, policies, and office programs.
• Develops working relationships with TAMUS members, departments, counselors, and advisors to enhance customer service and satisfaction.
• Disseminates admissions information.
• Conducts on and off campus public speaking and maintains related records.
• Reviews admission applications and assists in conducting third reviews of applications.
• Works directly with applicants and their parents to resolve extenuating circumstances, complaints, and appeals of admissions denials.
• Completes reports on programs/projects.
• Proposes, organizes, plans and coordinates events including accommodations, itineraries, meals, speakers, and records.
• Coordinates major office programs.
