Betterment, a leading technology-driven financial services company, seeks a 401(k) Consultant to own strategic client relationships and drive measurable retirement outcomes. You will partner with Onboarding, Operations, Product, Compliance, Marketing, and Payroll Services to maximize client value.

The role emphasizes client-centric service, plan administration expertise, and driving results through influence and collaboration.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of client-facing experience in the retirement plan space.
• Deep understanding of 401(k) plan administration, participant engagement strategies, and plan sponsor dynamics.
• Proven ability to influence and align internal and external stakeholders toward measurable outcomes.
• Strong ability to manage multiple complex priorities and resolve issues independently with accountability and follow-through.
• Strong communication skills—verbal and written—at all organizational levels.
• Demonstrated resourcefulness and willingness to improve outcomes in uncertain environments.
• Strong emotional intelligence and a growth mindset with a passion for coaching others.
• Advanced proficiency in Salesforce, Asana, and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Manage a book of strategic 401(k) clients, serving as trusted advisor focused on plan success and participant outcomes.
• Align with clients on retirement goals and deliver a roadmap to achieve them.
• Guide clients and their employees on plan design, rollovers, and participation strategies.
• Lead annual compliance conversations as the main client contact and advisor.
• Collaborate with Sales and Implementation for seamless onboarding and value realization.
• Identify risks, resolve challenges, and implement retention strategies.
• Represent the Voice of the Customer and enhance the platform experience across teams.
• Conduct regular strategy sessions to track progress and uncover opportunities.
