Job summary

The City of Florence seeks a Stormwater & Wastewater Collections Superintendent to oversee installation, maintenance and repair of stormwater and wastewater systems. The role coordinates field operations and on-call coverage, reporting to the Field Services Manager.

Requirements include a Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree (or four years equivalent) in a related field and 8–10 years of utility experience, with at least 3 years in supervision, plus a valid SC driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree, associate’s degree or equivalent to four years of college in utility construction and maintenance.
• 8–10 years of experience in water/sewer/stormwater utility operations and maintenance, with at least 3 years in a supervisory role.
• Valid South Carolina driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates, supervises and participates in installation, maintenance and repair of the City’s water/sewer/stormwater systems.
• Supervises subordinate supervisors, team leaders, equipment operators and maintenance staff.
• Remains on-call to assist night crews and on-call rotations during emergencies or severe weather.
• Reports to the Field Services Manager.

Stormwater & Wastewater Collections Superintendent
Salaried: $80,731.76/year; 2080 hours/year
Closing Date: Until Filled

• Bachelor’s degree, associate’s degree or other education and training equivalent to four (4) years of college education in utility construction and maintenance, engineering or a closely related field, supplemented by eight (8) to ten (10) years of experience in water/sewer/stormwater utility system operations and maintenance, three (3) of which have been in a supervisory capacity.
• Valid South Carolina driver’s license.

The Stormwater & Wastewater Collections Superintendent coordinates, supervises and participates in the installation, maintenance, and repair of the City’s wastewater/water/stormwater systems, and performs other technical, administrative and supervisory work as required. Work includes the necessary divisional administrative functions, coordination and supervision of utility system installation, maintenance and repair activities, as well as the supervision of subordinate supervisors, team leaders, equipment operators and maintenance staff. The Stormwater & Wastewater Collections Superintendent remains on-call to assist the night crew and the weekly assigned on-call crew during utility emergencies or severe weather events. The Stormwater & Wastewater Collections Superintendent reports to the Field Services Manager.
