Job summary

Bowman Consulting seeks a Drainage/Stormwater Quality Engineer II in San Diego, CA to design and manage land development drainage projects. You will collaborate with senior engineers, clients, and agencies to deliver robust stormwater solutions and ensure compliance with BMP standards.

The role emphasizes independent work within a team, strong communication, and the ability to handle multiple projects while maintaining quality. Remote or hybrid work arrangements may be available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field at hire.
• EIT certification and/or PE license progress preferred.
• 3+ years of civil engineering experience; land/site development preferred.
• Land development drainage and BMP design experience preferred.
• Proficiency with Civil3D and AutoCAD; reading construction plans.
• Knowledge of stormwater quality requirements and BMP design.
• Familiarity with HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, CLOMR/LOMR, and related modeling tools.
• Strong communication and ability to multi-task on projects.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Conceptualize initial civil design for large land/site development.
• Evaluate and apply standard engineering techniques for moderately complex projects.
• Plan, schedule, and coordinate detailed phases of project work.
• Complete civil engineering work for assigned project phases.
• Prepare reports, calculations, and design documentation.
• Review plans and coordinate with other disciplines.
• Provide technical assistance and field investigations as needed.
• Support development of plans, specifications, and estimates.
• Manage multiple projects and clients with sub-consultants.
