Job summary

Bowman is seeking a Drainage/Stormwater Quality Engineer III to join our team in San Diego, CA. You will evaluate and apply standard engineering techniques on moderately complex projects, lead detailed civil design phases, and collaborate with clients, agencies, and subconsultants to deliver robust drainage and BMP solutions.

Ideal candidates hold a civil engineering degree with 5+ years of land development experience, strong Civil3D and AutoCAD skills, and familiarity with stormwater quality

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related field required at time of hire.
• Professional Engineer license preferred.
• Five or more years of experience in the land development industry.
• Experience with Civil3D and related design software.
• Proficiency with reading construction plans.
• Knowledge of stormwater quality requirements and BMP design.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, Civil3D, AES, CIVILD, WSPGW, PCSWMM, StormCAD, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS.
• Storm drain modeling and open channel/detention basin design experience.
• SWPPP development and erosion control knowledge.
• Experience analyzing zoning and development standards.

Responsibilities

• Conceptualize the initial civil design approach for assigned phases of large land/site development.
• Evaluate, select, and apply standard engineering techniques and criteria on moderately complex projects.
• Plan, schedule, conduct, and coordinate detailed phases of assigned project work.
• Complete civil engineering work for assigned phases of large land/site development.
• Perform design work and calculations using computer-aided software.
• Make design recommendations, adaptations, and modifications.
• Assist with the development of plans, specifications, and reports.
• Provide technical assistance in resolving design problems and coordinating project aspects.
• Prepare reports and correspondence for project direction.
• Collaborate with other disciplines on multi-discipline projects.
• Review plans and prepare or review technical specifications, contract documents, and estimates.
