Job summary

Washington State University seeks a Municipal Stormwater Permit Assistance Specialist to support the Washington Stormwater Center’s municipal technical assistance program. The role focuses on helping Eastern Washington jurisdictions meet MS4 permit requirements, working remotely as part of WSC, with travel across the state and occasional visits to Puyallup.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree plus two years of related program experience; substitution allowed year-for-year.
• Experience with stormwater-related groups (federal, state, private, tribal, NGO, academia).
• Experience with Western/Eastern Phase II stormwater permits requirements.
• Valid driver’s license or ability to obtain by time of hire.
• Demonstrated written and oral communication skills for diverse audiences.
• Act as liaison between permittees, stakeholders, and regulators.
• Ability to work with diverse municipal jurisdictions with varying compliance needs.
• Willingness to learn the Stormwater Management Manual for Eastern and Western Washington.

Responsibilities

• Support municipal technical assistance to Phase II permittees across Eastern Washington.
• Provide program implementation support and capacity building.
• Coordinate and deliver in-person and online training, workshops, and events.
• Communicate with internal and external stakeholders to advance program goals.
• Travel to permitted jurisdictions in Eastern Washington and occasional trips to Puyallup offices.
