Job summary

City of Seattle’s CSO Program team is seeking an SPU outreach lead to coordinate multi-stakeholder engagement for wastewater and stormwater projects. You will drive equity-focused communications, craft messaging, and oversee stakeholder interactions across diverse communities.

The role requires experience in public involvement, community outreach, and managing consultants, with a hybrid schedule in Seattle and surrounding areas. The position advances city-wide environmental and community goals.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of experience in planning, capital projects, community engagement, human services, environmental issues, conservation, or related City planning work.
• Bachelor's degree in planning, urban design, capital projects, environmental studies, public administration, project management, or related field.
• Experience engaging Seattle's diverse communities and delivering equity-focused outreach.

Responsibilities

• Serve as SPU primary outreach subject matter expert for internal project teams and consulting firms.
• Lead development of programmatic messaging and equity-driven outreach strategies for the CSO program.
• Lead community engagement efforts, including public meetings and one-on-one meetings with stakeholders.
• Oversee development of outreach materials adhering to language access and accessibility guidance.
• Measure effectiveness of outreach and ensure compliance with public participation mandates.
• Coordinate work of consultant outreach staff and manage budgets and deliverables.
• Track outreach activities using SPU’s CRM system.
• Coach team members in communication and engagement skills.
• Identify and elevate issues to SPU leadership and impacted communities.
