Job summary

City of Arlington is seeking an Engineering Technician to support stormwater engineering and floodplain management. You will map, compile data, prepare exhibits, review permit applications, and assist engineers with plans and cost estimates.

Joining the team requires knowledge of GIS, AutoCAD, surveying, and the ability to analyze topography and LiDAR data. Field observations and cad drafting are part of the role, with a focus on timely public service.

Qualifications

• Two years of college coursework in science, mathematics, surveying, engineering, or GIS.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and QC GIS data including stormwater assets, studies, and flood data.
• Review floodplain development permits for compliance with local and federal rules.
• Prepare exhibits, charts, and maps using GIS, Microsoft Office, Adobe.
• Assist in design and preparation of plans, specs, and cost estimates for stormwater projects.
• Draft in AutoCAD to revise engineering drawings and plans.
• Answer inquiries from engineers, contractors, and the public with professional guidance.
