Job summary

The City of Arlington is seeking an Engineer to perform and review drainage studies, design construction plans, manage capital stormwater CIP projects, and provide technical guidance on drainage issues.

Under the supervision of a Professional Engineer, you will coordinate with internal departments, consultants, and stakeholders, prepare reports, and ensure compliance with design standards and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering from an accredited college.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to transfer to Texas within six months of hire.
• TFMA Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM) or ability to obtain within one year of hire.
• Possession of a valid Texas Driver’s License, Class C.
• Experience in public works engineering, drainage, stormwater, floodplain infrastructure.
• Knowledge of hydrology, hydraulics, and regulatory design standards.

Responsibilities

• Manage capital improvement projects from initiation through completion, ensuring compliance with goals, policies, and budgets.
• Review drainage studies, plans, and submittals for conformity with design standards and regulatory requirements.
• Perform contract administration including budgets, payments, and modifications; monitor performance.
• Collect, analyze, and interpret data related to drainage, floodplain, and stormwater using hydrologic/hydraulic methods and GIS.
• Coordinate with internal departments, consultants, contractors, and stakeholders to deliver studies and projects.
• Conduct field visits to observe site conditions, document findings, and recommend corrective actions.
• Prepare technical materials, deliver presentations, and provide testimony as required.
