Job summary

Buncombe County Government's Planning Department seeks an Environmental Plan Reviewer to focus on post-construction stormwater permitting, with potential cross-over into erosion control and water supply watershed permitting. The role reports to the EES Division Manager/Stormwater Administrator and is primarily in-office with a hybrid option after training.

The ideal candidate has a environmental science or engineering background and experience in environmental permitting, plus familiarity with

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in environmental science, engineering, or related field and two years of environmental permitting or stormwater/hydraulic design experience; or an Associate's degree with four years of applicable experience.
• Knowledge of NC stormwater, erosion control, water supply watershed and floodplain development permitting preferred.
• Engineer Intern (EI/EIT) certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform technical review of stormwater, erosion control, water supply watershed, and floodplain development permits for residential and commercial developments.
• Maintain data to track permits and cases and assist in ordinance administration.
• Inspect projects for compliance with permits and design specifications and prepare periodic reports and visual materials for officials.
