Job summary

City of Durham is seeking a Manager for the Stormwater Development Review Section within the Planning & Development Department. The role focuses on ensuring regulatory compliance for development activities from rezoning through as-built reviews, requiring hydrology knowledge and strong project leadership.

The incumbent will supervise staff, manage multiple projects, and develop design guidelines, ordinances, and contract documents. A Bachelor's in engineering and a NC P.E.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or a directly related field.
• Five years of professional engineering experience in stormwater.
• Two years of supervisory experience.
• North Carolina Professional Engineer registration or equivalent.
• Possession of valid NC Class C Driver's License with satisfactory driving record.

Responsibilities

• Supervise engineering staff and lead construction and project management on large, complex projects.
• Develop design and technical specifications; coordinate reviews and inspections.
• Prepare complex technical plans, reports, and contracts; oversee procurement and billing processes.
• Advise departments and agencies; facilitate meetings; provide guidance and expert testimony.
