Job summary

NV5 is seeking an Environmental Engineer/Scientist to join our Water Resources practice in Torrance, CA. You will work with stormwater professionals to support a diverse client portfolio across Southern California, applying regulatory knowledge and technical skills to ensure water quality objectives.

You will assist with IGP/CGP and NPDES programs, perform inspections and monitoring, prepare plans and reports, and help deliver high-quality projects while advancing toward leadership roles within

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 4 years of experience in stormwater compliance, permitting, or related environmental consulting.
• Strong understanding of CA IGP/CGP and municipal NPDES programs.
• Experience with environmental inspections, stormwater monitoring, sampling, and reporting.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
• Excellent written and verbal communication; client interaction.
• Valid California driver's license and clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Support stormwater compliance programs including IGP, CGP, CII, and MS4 permits.
• Perform site inspections, compliance audits, monitoring, sampling, and reporting.
• Prepare technical documents such as SWPPPs, WPCPs, ERAPs, MIPs, SAPs, and QAPPs.
• Evaluate data and develop practical compliance strategies and actions.
• Support BMP design and treatment control measures implementation.
• Assist clients with permit interpretation, compliance and agency coordination.
• Contribute to project planning, budgeting, proposals and business development.
• Collaborate with project managers, experts, and clients to deliver high-quality projects.
