Job summary

The Town of Summerville is seeking a Stormwater Compliance Technician in Summerville, SC. Under limited supervision, you will perform technical and administrative tasks to ensure NPDES MS4 regulatory compliance, conduct field inspections, and support the Stormwater Management Program.

You will coordinate with the Engineering Department and communicate requirements to developers, contractors and the public while maintaining accurate documentation and records.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, landscape architecture, construction management, or a related field; and two (2) years of related work experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Valid South Carolina driver’s license and CEPSCI certification (or ability to obtain within six months)

Responsibilities

• Completes inspections and re-inspections on commercial, residential and development construction projects with detailed reports and photos to ensure compliance with erosion and sediment control regulations.
• Conducts routine inspections of permanent stormwater controls to verify BMPs function per design and maintain safety.
• Issues enforcement responses for violations and noncompliance under stormwater regulations.
• Maintains and updates enforcement records, including notices of violation and corrective orders.
• Communicates stormwater code requirements and remediation needs to developers, contractors, engineers, property owners and the public.
• Uses GIS and other software to research, store and retrieve information.
• Performs related duties as assigned.
