Job summary

Charleston County Public Works Department seeks a Stormwater Inspection Foreman to supervise 1–4 inspectors, ensure timely, high-quality inspections, and lead a team dedicated to safeguarding waterways. You will train staff on regulations and engineering concepts, conduct compliance investigations, and enforce stormwater rules while documenting findings and communicating professionally.

A Civil/Environmental Engineering background with 6+ years of experience and a SC driver’s license are

Qualifications

• Associate Degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering or related field; 6+ years of experience.
• Strong knowledge of NPDES Phase II, SCDHEC Construction General Permit, and BMPs.
• Knowledge of civil engineering principles, site construction, inspection methods; regulation interpretation.

Responsibilities

• Directly supervise 1–4 stormwater inspectors and ensure high-quality inspections.
• Train team on inspection methods, regulations, and professional practices.
• Conduct compliance inspections and investigations on public and private infrastructure.
• Lead enforcement actions related to stormwater violations.
• Investigate illicit discharges, including testing and sampling stormwater.
• Educate citizens on pollution prevention and best practices.
