Job summary

City of San Diego is seeking a Storm Water Inspector II to independently perform journey-level inspections and enforce storm water regulations. You will evaluate Best Management Practices (BMPs) for industrial and commercial facilities, investigate pollutant sources, and educate business owners and citizens on pollution prevention and BMPs.

The role includes writing technical reports and using databases for data management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree options meet minimum education requirements.
• Education may be substituted with related experience year-for-year as noted.

Responsibilities

• Perform journey-level inspections and enforcement of storm water regulations.
• Inspect BMPs for industrial and commercial facilities and proper maintenance of permanent Structural BMPs.
• Investigate and mitigate storm water pollutant sources; conduct outreach on pollution prevention and BMPs.
• Write technical reports and use databases/spreadsheets for data storage and retrieval.
• Enforce regulations and conduct follow-up actions as assigned.

Education

Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Science, or Water Resources

Bachelor's Degree in a closely related field, including 16 units of construction management, geology, chemistry, physics, biology, and/or environmental science
