Job summary

City of San Diego is seeking a Storm Water Inspector II to independently conduct journey-level inspections and enforce storm water rules. You will assess BMPs at industrial and commercial facilities, conduct investigations, and educate stakeholders on pollution prevention.

The role requires meeting one of several education/experience options, with potential for advancement and benefits. A California driver license is required at hire.

Qualifications

• Must meet ONE of the following education options.
• Two years of full-time professional experience inspecting industrial/commercial facilities under storm water regulations.
• Two years of professional experience in environmental/engineering fields including BMPs.
• Two years of regulatory experience with storm water permits and compliance.
• Two years of field/lab storm water sampling experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform journey-level inspections and enforcement of storm water regulations.
• Inspect BMPs at industrial and commercial sites and residences for proper maintenance.
• Investigate and mitigate storm water pollutant sources; conduct outreach.
• Prepare technical reports and use databases/spreadsheets for data storage and retrieval.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
