Job summary

City of Escondido seeks a Senior Environmental Compliance Inspector to lead and perform advanced inspections of industrial and commercial facilities, ensuring compliance with wastewater and storm water regulations. The role administers the Industrial Waste Pretreatment Program, performs sampling, maintains records, and provides training to staff.

Qualifications

• Three years of environmental compliance inspection experience and two years of wastewater technology, chemistry, biology, environmental engineering, or related field.
• Experience leading, training, and reviewing staff in environmental inspection programs.
• Knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental regulations, including pretreatment and storm water programs.

Responsibilities

• Inspect industrial and commercial facilities for compliance with wastewater and storm water regulations.
• Administer industrial waste pretreatment programs and prepare permits, notices, and reports.
• Lead, train, and supervise staff; ensure safe work practices and accurate documentation.
• Review permit applications, discharge reports, and facility modifications.
• Plan checks of blueprints to ensure proper pretreatment equipment sizing and compliance.
