FedWriters, Inc. seeks a PodRad Developer to assemble radar sub-systems, calibrate RF equipment, and refine designs with real-world field testing at NSSL in Norman, Oklahoma. You will modify MATLAB/Python code to produce standard radar products and participate in data workflow enhancements.

The role offers a hybrid schedule, with most work at NSSL and designated deployments. Candidates should have a strong background in electrical or computer engineering and substantial RF hardware experience.

Qualifications

• BA/BS in Electrical or Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• 6+ years of full-time engineering experience.
• Experience with electromechanical assembly and RF hardware testing preferred.

Responsibilities

• Hardware Assembly & Integration: Assemble radar sub-systems and components, cabling, and structural housing.
• Calibration & Testing: Verify equipment performance baselines using standardized procedures.
• Refinement: Collaborate with NSSL scientists to refine the design based on results.
• Software Development: Modify MATLAB or Python code, or write new code for standard radar products.
• Product generation: Develop basic QC methods and support data workflow with NSSL.
• Field Testing: Conduct field tests and implement design improvements from feedback.
• Validation: Assist in validating against observations with NSSL staff and partners.
• Documentation: Update schematics, logs, and code repositories; draft test reports.
• Reporting: Prepare quarterly status reports.
• Dissemination: Prepare AMS-compliant reports and conference presentations.
