FWI (FedWriters, Inc.) seeks a PodRad Developer to support NSSL in Norman, OK. You will assemble radar subsystems, calibrate RF equipment, and modify MATLAB/Python code to generate Doppler velocity spectra and other radar products.

The role blends hands-on hardware with software, requires 6+ years of engineering experience, and offers field deployment opportunities with a hybrid work model.

Qualifications

• BA/BS in Electrical or Computer Engineering or related field.
• 6+ years of full-time engineering experience.

Responsibilities

• Hardware assembly & integration: assemble radar subsystems, cabling, and housing.
• Calibration & testing: perform standardized RF tests to verify baselines.
• Refinement: collaborate with NSSL scientists to refine the design.
• Software development: modify MATLAB/Python code to produce radar products.
• Product generation: develop QC methods and explore additional radar products.
• Optimization & field testing: conduct field tests and implement design improvements.
• Validation: work with NSSL staff to validate against observations and deploy systems.
• Documentation: update schematics, logs, and code repos; draft test reports.
• Reporting: prepare quarterly status reports.
• Dissimulation: write AMS report and present at conferences.
