Job summary

AEP is seeking a Material Attendant to support the Material Services organization at Hooks Regional Laydown Yard. Responsibilities include issuing materials, inspecting received items, maintaining records, and preparing shipments while following safety and environmental procedures.

The role requires at least 1 year in inventory control or warehousing, basic math, and the ability to operate material handling equipment. CDL may be required within six months of entry.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• At least 1 year in inventory control, warehousing, or related field.
• Basic math, ability to use inventory software; capable with Excel/Word.

Responsibilities

• Issue material under proper authorization; may involve pickup, hauling, and operating company vehicles.
• Check received material for quantity; inspect identity, breakage, condition; process related records.
• Report irregularities and abnormal conditions.
• Identify, sort and record material returned; stock usable material; sort non-usable material into scrap.
• Operate terminals and printers for a materials management system and other office equipment.
• Prepare and pack material for shipment or storage, including shipping papers; may involve hazardous material handling.
• Operate material handling equipment (hand trucks, forklifts, cranes, order pickers) as required.
• Assist supervisor with storage efficiency and bin/rack changes; update material locations.
• Assist in maintaining inventory levels via cycle counts and discrepancy adjustments.
• Assist coworkers and perform similar or lesser skilled work.
• Comply with safety rules and company procedures.
