Job summary

Cosentino's Food Stores in Grain Valley, MO is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to lead all store departments and ensure top-quality service for our customers.

You will supervise daily operations, coach staff, run interviews, and resolve customer issues while controlling labor costs and maintaining safety and sanitation standards. This exempt role reports to the Store Director and requires strong leadership, communication, and a track record of managing teams in grocery settings.

Qualifications

• A valid driver’s license is required for deliveries.
• A food handling permit must be obtained within the first 14 days of employment.
• A liquor license is required prior to the first day of work (If applicable).
• A minimum (2) years of management experience in a food service, retail, and/or grocery store setting is required.
• Completion of ongoing training and development as listed on the Cosentino Learning Plan.
• A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide supervision of the activities of all departments in an operational and respectful manner.
• Promote a positive team atmosphere with cooperation and high morale.
• Provide coaching, corrective actions, and performance evaluations.
• Address employee relations issues and work with HR to resolve issues.
• Conduct interviews to hire the highest quality candidates for any department.
• Resolve customer complaints professionally and elevate as needed.
• Know and implement Cosentino Customer Service Standards.
• Manage labor costs while maintaining service levels and controlling expenses.
• Monitor overall quality of each department.
• Meet or exceed productivity standards for team and individual results.
• Promote new items and weekly specials through merchandising and displays.
• Operate, clean and maintain equipment safely and competently.
• Ensure compliance with health regulations, sanitation guidelines and safety procedures.
• Demonstrate strong verbal and interpersonal skills with customers and peers.
• Demonstrate basic math and reading skills.
