Job summary

Dollar General is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to lead a customer-first store, supervise staff, and ensure accurate merchandising and deposits. You will assist with scheduling, training, safety, and policy adherence while driving profitability and loss prevention across daily operations.

The role requires strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills; prior retail supervisory experience is preferred, with the ability to open/close the store multiple days weekly.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of experience in a retail environment and six months supervisory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide superior customer service leadership; greet customers, operate the cash register and scanner to itemize purchases.
• Open and close the store at least two days per week.
• Assist with scheduling employees, training, safety meetings, and policy compliance.
• Manage merchandise: receiving, stocking, restocking, rotating, and displays.
• Maintain inventory accuracy by controlling damages, markdowns, scans, and paperwork.
• Assist with planograms and ensure merchandise is presented per standards.
• Ensure financial integrity: cashier accountability, deposits, and refunds; count tills.
• Assist with store coverage in the Store Manager's absence.
