Job summary

Dollar General is seeking an Assistant Store Manager in a retail environment to lead customer service efforts and support daily store operations. You will supervise staff, manage cash handling and inventory, and help drive store profitability while protecting assets.

The role requires strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills, with open/close duties at least two days weekly and adherence to company policies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of experience in a retail environment and six months supervisory experience preferred.
• Strong customer service and leadership skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide superior customer service leadership; greet and assist customers, and operate cash register and scanner to itemize the customer's purchase.
• Open and close the store a minimum of two days per week.
• Assist Store Manager with scheduling employees and training, conducting safety meetings, and ensuring policy compliance.
• Rotate and stock merchandise; build displays and manage restocking per planograms.
• Assist in maintaining inventory accuracy by controlling damages, markdowns, scanning, and paperwork.
• Ensure cashier accountability, deposit controls, and cash handling procedures; assist with refunds and overrides as needed.
• Assist with store management in the Store Manager's absence.
