Job summary

Blarney Castle Oil in Carson City, MI is seeking an Assistant Manager to support the Store Manager by guiding a team, ensuring service, cleanliness, and product quality, and delivering daily store operations during shifts.

You will mentor staff, handle customer interactions, manage cash handling, safety, compliance, and coordinate with management to drive results while maintaining a welcoming environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Two years progressively responsible retail experience.
• Demonstrated good math skills for cash handling, tax calculations, inventory math.
• Able to read, write, understand and apply instructions, procedures, recipes, and training materials.
• Strong interpersonal communication skills with customers, employees and vendors.
• Able to integrate and work effectively in a team environment.
• Demonstrated computer literacy in business operations; POS experience helpful.
• Able to work any shift and be on-call for emergencies; regular attendance expected.
• Reliable personal transportation and proof of auto insurance for banking and off-site activities.
• Age 18 or older due to age-restricted product sales.

Responsibilities

• Display a customer comes first attitude and address customer complaints promptly.
• Support Store Manager by implementing programs and motivating staff to meet objectives.
• Delegate responsibilities to ensure smooth operations.
• Provide coaching to employees on shift for performance improvement.
• Assist with new employee training and provide feedback to the manager.
• Maintain calm demeanor during high volume and unusual events.
• Assist in executing marketing, fuel, and food strategies and promotions.
• Ensure pricing and inventory are maintained and stock levels adequate.
• Follow all company policies and ensure compliance with laws.
• Prepare and deliver deposits; reconcile daily receipts.
• Communicate and resolve maintenance issues in a timely manner.
• Lead safety meetings and ensure safety procedures are followed.
• Respond to emergencies outside normal hours as needed.
• Perform all work on-site at the assigned store location.
• Complete training within deadlines and perform other duties as assigned.
