Job summary

Family Dollar is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to support daily store operations, customer service, and team development in a fast-paced retail environment.

You will assist with opening and closing, merchandising, scheduling, payroll, and loss prevention, while mentoring Store Associates and maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming store.

This part-time role provides exposure to corporate directives and performance metrics, with opportunities to grow into future store leadership.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred; ability to read operational directives.
• Store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store environment preferred.
• Must be able to lift up to 55 lbs and meet physical demands of frequent movement.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills required.
• Ability to work in a high-energy, team environment.
• Exceptional customer service, organizational, and communication skills required.
• Strong problem solving and decision-making skills required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day store activities.
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions or concerns.
• Organize and transfer merchandise from delivery to stockroom to sales floor; maintain seasonal areas.
• Perform opening and closing procedures as needed.
• Process corporate directives related to store activities.
• Maintain promotional effectiveness of store-front fixtures and displays.
• Assist in ordering merchandise, processing damaged merchandise, payroll, scheduling, and cash handling.
• Maintain a well-stocked sales floor and organized stockroom to company standards.
• Protect and secure all company assets, including store cash.
• Adhere to safety policies and ensure team compliance.
• Help Store Manager supervise, train, and develop Store Associates.
• Ensure a positive, safe, respectful environment with customers and staff.
• Maintain store cleanliness including bathrooms, floors, trash, and neat presentation.
• Other duties as assigned.
