Job summary

Dollar General is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to uphold a clean, customer-first store environment and support the Store Manager with day-to-day supervision and merchandising.

You will help with cashiering, inventory, planograms, scheduling, and staff training while protecting assets and driving profitability. This role requires strong communication, organization, and a hands-on leadership approach in a fast-paced retail setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of retail experience and six months supervisory experience preferred.
• Effective interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to perform cash register functions and generate reports.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures and deposit controls.

Responsibilities

• Provide superior customer service leadership; greet and assist customers, and operate cash register.
• Open and close the store a minimum of two days per week.
• Assist Store Manager with scheduling employees, providing adequate training, safety meetings, and policy compliance.
• Follow work processes to manage merchandise, including receiving, stocking, and displays.
• Assist in maintaining inventory levels and cash controls; deposits and refunds as needed.
• Assist with planograms and ensure merchandise is presented as directed.
• Assist in managing store during the Store Manager’s absence.
