Job summary

Dollar General Corporation is seeking a Store Manager to lead daily store operations, staffing, merchandising and customer service. You will oversee cash handling, inventory control and compliance with company policies.

Responsibilities include hiring and coaching staff, opening/closing the store, monitoring sales and stock levels, and ensuring a safe, well-organized shopping environment. The role requires strong leadership and communication skills and a commitment to customer excellence.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as diagrams, safety rules, operating instructions, and procedures manuals.
• Ability to perform mathematical calculations including percentages.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures and deposit control.
• Experience with IBM cash register functions to generate reports.
• Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices.
• Effective oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
• Understanding of recruiting, interviewing, hiring and termination practices, including legal compliance.

Responsibilities

• Recruit, select and retain qualified employees and ensure proper staffing.
• Provide training, conduct evaluations and counsel staff as needed.
• Open/close the store regularly and manage daily operations.
• Monitor sales, profitability, and inventory levels; address variances.
• Order to meet in-stock targets and manage replenishment processes.
• Maintain merchandise presentation, pricing and signage according to standards.
• Ensure cash accountability, security practices and loss prevention.
• Deliver superior customer service leadership and maintain a clean store environment.
