Job summary

Safeway is seeking a Third Person in Charge to oversee store operations during the absence of Store Director and ASD. The role includes supervising staff, handling customer issues, coordinating with late shift teams, and ensuring merchandising execution and safety programs are followed.

Education: High School Diploma; Experience: 4+ years in retail, preferably grocery. Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills are required.

Qualifications

• Proven customer service and supervisory capabilities.
• Strong understanding of overall store operations and workflows.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; able to lead and motivate teams.
• Ability to train and onboard new staff, with initiative and urgency.

Responsibilities

• Works primarily on closing shifts to run total store operations in the absence of leadership.
• Coordinates with late shift personnel to plan day-to-day operations and training.
• Handles customer relations, concerns, and complaints with appropriate action.
• Manages ordering, receiving, pricing, stocking, and merchandising duties.
• Trains Head Clerks and PICs for promotion to Third Person in Charge.
• Supports safety culture and safety program execution in-store.
