Job summary

Safeway is seeking a Third Person in Charge to oversee store operations when the Store Director and ASD are absent. This role focuses on customer service, training, hiring coordination, and merchandising execution to ensure smooth daily operations.

The incumbent will lead late shifts, supervise staff, handle customer issues, and drive safety and sales initiatives. This position offers advancement into store management within Albertsons Companies’ Northern California division.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma is required.
• Four or more years of retail experience is required.
• Retail grocery experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Close shifts to run total store operations in absence of Store Director and Store Director.
• Assist with interviewing and hiring processes and onboarding.
• Supervise employees and handle customer complaints in the absence of the Store Director and Assistant Store Director.
• Coordinate with late shift and plan day-to-day operations.
• Train Head Clerks for promotion to Third Person in Charge.
• Support safety culture and merchandising execution.
