Job summary

Dollar General Store is seeking a Store Manager Candidate to support the Store Manager in implementing store processes, supervising employees, inventory management, stocking and receiving, paperwork, and store needs. This role is designed to foster external candidate development for the Store Manager position for a limited period.

The role emphasizes leadership, policy compliance, store opening/closing, cashier controls, and maintaining a safe, well-stocked store while driving performance.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of experience in a retail environment preferred for external candidates.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures including cashier accountability and deposits.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as diagrams and manuals.
• Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assist with store merchandising by staging, stocking and storage of merchandise and pricing per established practices.
• Assist in all aspects of inventory management and conduct inventories.
• Follow prescribed ordering practices to meet or exceed in-stock targets.
• Provide superior customer service leadership.
• Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures and act as a role model.
• Participate in store opening and closing activities.
• Maintain cash controls and safe deposit procedures.
