Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Store Manager Candidate to support the Store Manager in supervision, staffing, inventory, receiving, and store needs. The role helps develop external candidates for the Store Manager position for a limited period.

The position requires strong leadership, cash handling, merchandising, and inventory control skills, with a focus on compliant processes and customer service excellence.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret diagrams, rules, and procedures.
• Ability to perform basic math and percentages accurately.
• Knowledge of cash handling including deposits and accountability.
• Ability to operate IBM cash registers and generate reports.
• Understanding of inventory management and merchandising practices.
• Familiar with cash, safety controls and store security policies.
• Experience with recruiting, interviewing and hiring processes.
• Strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
• Good organizational skills with attention to detail.
• Able to solve problems in varying situations with limited guidance.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assist with store merchandising and stocking per established practices.
• Assist in inventory management including damages, markdowns, and reporting.
• Follow prescribed ordering practices to meet in-stock targets.
• Provide superior customer service leadership.
• Participate in store opening and closing activities.
• Ensure cash accountability and store security practices.
• Review operating statements to identify trends and opportunities.
• Complete all paperwork and documentation on time.
