Job summary

Family Dollar in Phoenix, AZ seeks an Assistant Store Manager to assist with store operations, customer service and team development. You will help organize merchandise, support store functions, and keep the store clean and compliant with policy.

You’ll train and mentor Store Associates while ensuring a safe, positive environment for customers and staff. The role requires physical stamina, strong communication, and a proven customer-service focus in a fast-paced retail setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store preferred.
• Ability to lift up to 55 lbs and frequent standing/walking.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills required.
• Ability to work in a high-energy, team environment.
• Exceptional customer service, organizational, and communication skills.
• Strong problem solving and decision-making skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day store activities.
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions or concerns.
• Organize merchandise from delivery truck to stockroom to sales floor and maintain seasonal areas.
• Perform opening and closing procedures as needed.
• Process corporate directives and communications related to store activities.
• Maintain promotional fixtures and displays for effectiveness.
• Assist in ordering merchandise, processing damaged merchandise, payroll, scheduling, and cash deposits/receipts.
• Keep store areas well-stocked, organized, and clean to company standards.
• Protect and secure all store assets, including cash.
• Help Store Manager supervise, train, and develop Store Associates.
• Ensure a positive, safe, and respectful environment for customers and staff.
• Maintain cleanliness of store, bathrooms, floors, and trash removal.
• Other duties as assigned.
