Job summary

Dollar General Store is seeking a Store Manager Candidate to support the Store Manager in staffing, inventory management, merchandising, stocking, receiving, paperwork, and store operations. This temporary role helps develop external candidates for the Store Manager position while working to maintain store performance and customer satisfaction.

The incumbent will assist with recruitment, merchandising, inventory control, order processing, and cash handling.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of experience in a retail environment preferred for external candidates.
• Knowledge of recruiting, interviewing, hiring, counseling, and termination practices including legal compliance.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures and deposit controls.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assist with store merchandising according to practices and manager direction; proper use of fixtures, signage, and pricing.
• Assist in all aspects of inventory management and prepare inventories.
• Follow prescribed ordering practices to meet or exceed in-stock targets.
• Provide superior customer service leadership.
• Operate store in the store manager's absence.
• Review operating statements to identify trends, expenses, and opportunities.
• Complete all paperwork according to guidelines and deadlines.
