Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Store Manager Candidate to support the Store Manager by handling staffing, inventory, merchandising, paperwork, and store needs. This role is intended to develop external candidates for the Store Manager position for a limited period.

The role emphasizes recruiting, merchandising execution, inventory control, and strong customer service leadership to drive store performance and compliance with company policies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of experience in a retail environment preferred for external candidates.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assist with store merchandising by staging, stocking and pricing merchandise according to store manager direction.
• Assist in inventory management, including damages, markdowns, scans, paperwork and controls; prepare inventories.
• Follow prescribed ordering practices to meet or exceed in-stock targets.
• Provide superior customer service leadership.
• Participate in store opening and closing activities.
• Ensure safe deposit of company funds in designated bank.
• Maintain cashier accountability and cash control procedures.
• Maintain clean, well-stocked stores and a safe customer/employee environment.
• Operate store in store manager’s absence.
