Job Summary
Under the leadership of Store Managers and Regional Director, the Store Managers in Training is responsible for developing critical leadership skills, including overseeing and directing all aspects of store operations and personnel management. This person is required to travel, as needed, within the assigned territory to train in all key leadership skills in order to be prepared to move into a Store Manager role.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Develop critical leadership skills, including overseeing and directing all aspects of store operations and personnel management, and cultivating a positive organizational culture.
- Handle escalated customer service matters.
- Ensure strict adherence to safety protocols throughout all operational activities.
- Develop proficiency in fiscal responsibility and managing operational costs, both labor and supplies, and managing store budgets.
- Understand budget management duties, including meeting sales targets and production benchmarks.
- Supervise payroll operations and monitor profit and loss margins to ensure financial objectives are met.
- Strengthen end‑to‑end people management skills, including selection, hiring, training, onboarding, progressive discipline, and coaching of all retail store associates.
- Account for fostering the growth and professional development of assistant store managers, guiding their progression to higher‑level positions within the organization.
- Commence store operations by opening the premises, conducting cash counts, and preparing the establishment for customer engagement during regular business hours.
- Ensure sufficient staffing levels for the day's operations, promptly arranging for replacements if necessary to maintain optimal coverage and seamless store functioning.
- Conclude store operations by overseeing closing procedures, including conducting cash counts and securely depositing funds into the designated safe.
- Generate end‑of‑day sales reports to facilitate financial reconciliation.
- Ensure the building is securely locked at night and activate the alarm system to safeguard the premises.
- Engage in comprehensive operational loss prevention initiatives to mitigate shrinkage risks.
- Communicate any identified losses to Store Manager, Regional Director, and all pertinent retail leadership for timely awareness and strategic action.
Qualifications
- High School diploma, required. Associate's degree, preferred.
- 3–4 years of retail experience, with at least 1 to 2 years of supervisory experience, required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong multitasking abilities and capacity to provide clear directives and swiftly resolve issues, particularly within demanding environments.
- Strong oral and written communication, effective time management, and customer service skills.
- Strong interpersonal, coaching, and development skills.
- Adaptability to changing circumstances and ability to manage concurrent tasks.
- Cross‑trained in all aspects of retail associate responsibilities.
- Possession of a valid driver’s license.
- Ability to travel 50–75 % of the time.
