Store Manager In Training (SMIT) Job Description

The Store Manager In Training (SMIT) role is designed to prepare you for a CVS Store Manager position through a 16-week, self-paced, collaborative training program. The program includes virtual and hands-on learning experiences supported by your District Leader, Human Resources Business Partner, Training Store Manager, and Store Manager coach.

Key skills required include:

  • Effective verbal and written communication
  • Customer service excellence
  • Merchandising and sales support
  • Inventory and asset management

SMITs are expected to:

  • Engage actively with leadership during the program
  • Support store operations and lead in alignment with CVS values
  • Promote the company's purpose of helping people on their path to better health
  • Be willing to accept promotion opportunities within the market

Note that selection as an SMIT does not guarantee promotion to Store Manager; promotion depends on performance and availability. Candidates must be willing to transfer within the designated market and work a flexible schedule.

Minimum requirements include:

  • High School diploma or GED (required)
  • Bachelor's Degree (preferred)
  • Retail management experience or CVS supervisory experience
