Position Description

The Store Manager in Training (MIT) will undergo comprehensive training to develop skills in managing store operations within a convenience store environment. This role offers growth opportunities and career advancement in retail management. The MIT will work closely with the Store Manager to gain hands-on experience in managing staff, inventory, customer service, and store operations, with the goal of progressing to a Store Manager role.

Responsibilities
  1. Training & Development: Participate in structured training on leadership, customer service, inventory management, and operational procedures. Assist in supervising staff, ensuring store cleanliness, and operational efficiency. Learn to manage daily store operations, staff scheduling, product ordering, and quality control.
  2. Store Operations: Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, assist in inventory management, and create a welcoming environment for customers. Participate in customer service training.
  3. Supervision & Training: Learn to schedule and supervise staff, manage labor costs, and train new employees. Address employee issues and customer complaints professionally.
  4. Administrative Responsibilities: Manage daily sales reports, inventory, safety compliance records, and monitor costs to maintain profitability. Assist in employee scheduling and ensure policy adherence.
  5. Health & Safety Compliance: Participate in safety training, emergency procedures, and handle hazardous materials safely.
  6. Continuous Improvement: Identify operational improvements, analyze customer feedback, and work on increasing efficiency and profitability.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent; post-secondary education in business is a plus.
  • Prior retail or customer service experience preferred; supervisory experience required.
  • Interest in retail management and growth mindset.
  • Valid State Driver's License required.
Skills & Abilities

  • Knowledge of safety, sanitation, POS systems, inventory software, and scheduling tools.
Physical Requirements & Work Environment

Ability to stand for long periods, lift up to 50 lbs., bend, squat, climb ladders, and work in cold environments. Capable of handling cash and repetitive tasks. Must be able to work alone and handle emergency situations.
