Job summary

Dollar General Corporation seeks a Store Manager Candidate to aid the Store Manager in staffing, inventory control, stocking, and daily store operations. The role is intended for development toward the Store Manager position and is limited in duration.

The candidate will assist in recruiting, merchandising, inventory management, and cash control while upholding company policies. This role supports a fast-paced retail environment and customer service excellence.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of experience in a retail environment preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as diagrams, safety rules, operating instructions, and procedures manuals.
• Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations and percentages.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures including cashier accountability and deposit controls.
• Familiarity with safety, inventory, and loss prevention practices.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assist with store merchandising and stocking according to store manager direction and practices.
• Assist in all aspects of inventory management including damages, markdowns, and paperwork.
• Follow prescribed ordering practices to meet or exceed in-stock targets.
• Provide customer service leadership and ensure a safe environment for customers and employees.
• Operate store in manager's absence and maintain store procedures and paperwork deadlines.
• Review operating statements to identify trends, expenses, and opportunities for improvement.
• Complete all required documentation according to guidelines.
