Job summary

Dollar General seeks a Store Manager Candidate to assist the Store Manager in daily operations, staffing, inventory, merchandising, and paperwork. This role supports development for future Store Manager responsibilities and is limited to a defined period.

The position emphasizes cashier accountability, customer service leadership, and adherence to company policies while participating in opening/closing duties and ensuring store safety and efficiency.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of experience in a retail environment preferred for external candidates.
• Knowledge of cash handling and safety procedures.
• Ability to read and interpret documents and perform basic math.
• Bilingual Spanish may be preferred at some locations.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assist with store merchandising, staging, stocking and pricing of merchandise.
• Assist in all aspects of inventory management and cycle counts.
• Follow prescribed ordering practices to meet or exceed in-stock targets.
• Provide superior customer service leadership.
• Open and close the store as needed.
• Ensure cash handling accuracy and bank deposits.
• Maintain clean, safe, and well-stocked stores.
• Operate store in manager's absence.
• Review operating statements for trends and opportunities.
• Complete paperwork and documentation on time.
