Job Description: Store Manager at Hot Spot Stores

The purpose of this job description is to give new employees an overview of what is expected of the Store Manager at Hot Spot Stores. The following list is not all-inclusive; the position may be asked to perform other duties, especially those that are not considered usual and customary in the convenience store industry. The Store Manager must report to the Area Manager for assistance and guidance.

Store Operations:
  • Perform all duties of an Assistant Store Manager.
  • Ensure prompt reconciliation of store operations paperwork.
  • Be enthusiastic about helping other store employees.
  • Assist or step in when other employees need guidance.
  • Forecast, order, stock, and merchandise products.
  • Possess good management skills.
  • Follow company policies, procedures, and comply with state and local laws concerning alcohol, tobacco, money orders, ephedrine sales, and lottery sales.
  • Recruit, lead, train, and motivate store employees, enforcing accountability to achieve profitable results.
  • Handle operational and personnel issues within the store and report to the District Supervisor.
  • Comply with all relevant laws, safety regulations, environmental policies, and company procedures.
  • Control inventory, cash, and labor costs.
  • Have a valid driver’s license and proof of insurance. Managers are required to drive for tasks such as banking, post office visits, and off-site meetings.
Customer Service:
  • Ensure store employees perform their duties in a timely and professional manner.
  • Provide prompt, efficient, and courteous customer service.
  • Greet and thank customers, promote store specials.
  • Dress according to Hot Spot and Shell Store policies.
Job Specifications:
  • Work independently and follow instructions.
  • Operate and maintain store equipment.
  • Process vendor invoices.
  • Use a computer proficiently.
  • Operate necessary store machines.
  • Work a minimum of 44 hours per week, including weekends, holidays, and shifts as needed.
  • Retail, grocery, or convenience store management experience is preferred but not required.
Physical Requirements:
  • Intermittent sitting, standing, bending, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Exposure to cold temperatures when stocking refrigerators.
  • Use safety equipment within the store.
