Job summary

Dollar General Corporation seeks a Store Manager Candidate to support the Store Manager in implementing store processes, supervise employees, manage staffing, inventory, stocking, receiving, paperwork, and store needs. This role is designed to develop an external candidate for the Store Manager position and is limited in duration.

You will assist in recruiting, merchandising, inventory controls, in-stock targets, cashier accountability, and store safety.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of experience in a retail environment preferred for external candidates.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures including cashier accountability and deposit controls.
• Ability to recruit, interview, hire, and train staff.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Certain store locations may give preference to bilingual Spanish speakers.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assist with store merchandising by facilitating staging, stocking and pricing of merchandise.
• Assist in inventory management including damages, markdowns, scanning, paperwork and controls.
• Follow prescribed ordering practices to meet in-stock targets.
• Provide superior customer service leadership.
• Operate store in store manager's absence.
• Review operating statements to identify trends, expense control opportunities and errors.
• Complete all paperwork and documentation according to guidelines and deadlines.
