Job summary

The Carter Lumber Company is seeking a Store Manager for its Shelby, OH facility. This role oversees the overall operation and leads sales relationships with contractors and do-it-yourselfers, following direction from General and District Managers in areas of foundation, inventory, sales and profit.

A strong belief in the mission and goals of the company is essential to this position. This is a hands-on role focused on improving store results while maintaining high customer service standards.

Qualifications

• Previous retail management experience preferred in building materials
• Experience managing outside sales programs
• Proven track record in sales management with contractors
• Ability to direct and train others as a team leader
• Demonstrated ability to increase sales and profitability
• Strong problem solving and conflict resolution skills
• 5–10 years in building materials, store operations and sales
• This position is for the Shelby, OH facility

Responsibilities

• Manages the overall direction of the store
• Oversees inventory management, safety, policies and procedures
• Communicates sales and profit goals to the team
• Hiring, communication, motivation, discipline and separation
• Ensures employee goals are set and met
• Grow outside, inside and installed sales programs
• Build relationships, follow up on key accounts and resolve complaints
• Identify growth needs and provide training
• Complete orientation and safety training, pursue continued learning
