Job Objectives
Manages the operation of a Walgreens store.
Improves store sales, profitability, and image through proper merchandising, protection of store assets, the selection, training, and development of team members, and modeling and delivering a distinctive and delightful customer and patient experience.
Job Responsibilities/Tasks
Customer Experience
- Monitors and analyzes customer service provided by team members. Offers reminders, training, and encouragement, and develops action plans for improvement in both retail and pharmacy.
- Greets customers and clinic patients, and offers assistance with products and services.
- Models and shares customer service best practices to deliver a distinctive and delightful customer and patient experience, including interpersonal habits and Walgreens service traits.
- Resolves customer complaints and helps respond to customers’ special needs.
Operations
- Supervises store and pharmacy operations, including opening/closing shifts, task delegation, and scheduling.
- Controls store finances, including register counts, bank withdrawals, safe deposits, and bookkeeping.
- Supervises merchandising, inventory management, receiving, stocking, pricing, and store maintenance.
- Ensures compliance with laws and regulations, including sale of alcohol, tobacco, and pharmacy products.
- Ensures staff is knowledgeable of all systems and software; responds to system issues.
- Maintains respectful relationships with coworkers and complies with policies.
- Completes special assignments as needed.
Daily Planning and Execution
- Assigns daily responsibilities and sets expectations for team members and assistant managers.
Business Performance Management
- Analyzes financial and performance data; develops strategies to increase sales and control costs.
- Reviews KPIs and asset protection data; collaborates on pharmacy and clinic performance improvements.
Business Planning
- Identifies sales opportunities; manages inventory levels and seasonal stock changes.
People and Performance Management
- Manages team performance, recruitment, training, and employee development.
- Addresses issues, manages compensation, and promotes teamwork.
Training and Personal Development
- Participates in training programs, obtains necessary licensure, and pursues self-development.
Communications
- Serves as liaison between district, corporate, and store; conducts community outreach and events.
- Qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree and 3 years retail management experience or a High School Diploma/GED and 5 years retail management experience.
- Licensed pharmacy technician or equivalent as required by state law, with a 12-month deadline from start date.
- Willingness to work flexible hours.
