Job description

An established optical retailer is seeking an experienced Store Manager to lead daily store operations, drive sales performance, and develop a strong retail team. This role is responsible for overseeing store results, managing staff, and ensuring a high level of customer service.

The Store Manager will be accountable for sales performance, operational execution, and team development while maintaining a professional and organized retail environment.

This is a full-time leadership position requiring weekend availability.

Optical experience preferred. Licensed Optician a plus.

Key Responsibilities
  • Drive store sales by providing strong leadership and maintaining an active presence on the sales floor.
  • Ensure customers receive knowledgeable and professional assistance when selecting eyewear products.
  • Monitor store performance metrics and implement strategies to achieve sales goals.
  • Support opportunities to increase overall store revenue through product recommendations and multiple pair purchases.
  • Partner with the on-site Optometrist to ensure a smooth experience between exam services and eyewear sales.
  • Recruit, hire, and train store staff.
  • Provide ongoing coaching and feedback to support employee development.
  • Hold team members accountable to company policies, attendance expectations, and performance standards.
  • Foster a professional and productive work environment.
Store Operations
  • Oversee daily store operations including opening and closing procedures, register balancing, and deposits.
  • Maintain accurate inventory and ensure merchandise is properly displayed.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies related to pricing, promotions, and returns.
  • Monitor payroll and store expenses in relation to sales performance.
  • Maintain a clean and organized store environment.
Safety & Security
  • Maintain awareness of potential security risks.
  • Ensure proper reporting procedures for incidents and safety concerns.
Licensing Requirement (Multi-State)

In certain states, including but not limited to Washington, California, New York, Florida, and Ohio, candidates may be required to meet state licensing requirements to perform optical dispensing duties. These duties may include fitting, adjusting, and dispensing prescription eyewear.

Where licensing is required, candidates may need to hold a dispensing optician license or be registered as an apprentice under supervision.

Qualifications
  • Minimum 3 years of retail management experience preferred
  • Optical or eyewear industry experience preferred
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage staff, sales performance, and daily operations
  • Open availability including evenings and weekends
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 30 lbs
  • Comfortable using POS systems and basic office software
