Job summary

Staples is seeking a General Manager to lead store operations, drive sales, and deliver exceptional customer service across communities. This bench GM role travels between stores until a permanent assignment is available.

You will develop a consultative selling environment, empower your team, and manage merchandise sales, print services and B2B networks while upholding Staples values.

Qualifications

• 1+ year progressively responsible store management experience in a retail environment.
• Experience creating a customer centric environment and working in a consultative selling environment that provides customers a total solution
• Experience developing a team in operational excellence to drive profitable year-over-year sales and margins
• Ability to lead and work cooperatively in a high paced and sometimes stressful environment
• Manage conflict in a reasonable, nonconfrontational and cooperative manner
• Ability to lift/move materials in the 10-50 pound range, climb ladders, stand and walk continuously

Responsibilities

• Overall management of running a store; additional responsibilities as needed or assigned
• Direct merchandise sales, print & marketing services and retail operations
• Drive profitable sales and margin while reducing variability and improving performance YoY
• Hold yourself and your team accountable for flawless execution of operational excellence
• Coach every manager and supervisor to create a culture of consultative selling and total solutions
• Provide strong leadership in community, customer service, sales, and team development.
• Develop a consultative and customer centric environment for the small business customer
• Empower your team to learn, grow and deliver through teaching, coaching and inspiring

• Ability to lead and work cooperatively in a high paced and sometimes stressful environment
• Manage conflict in a reasonable, nonconfrontational and cooperative manner
• Ability to act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information
• Ability to lift/move materials in the 10-50 pound range, climb ladders, stand and walk continuously
