What You’ll do
The Store Manager creates and executes a business plan to meet performance goals, including sales targets, market share, and omnichannel sales. Responsibilities include integrating online, print, social media, mobile apps, and in-store engagement to drive sales. The role involves building revenue by training associates in product knowledge, store operations, safety, customer service, and merchandising. Strong leadership, motivation, and supervision skills are essential.
- Enhance customer experience and drive sales through social media, store events, vendor presentations, and customer training.
- Analyze store results, identify opportunities, and collaborate on initiatives to boost sales.
- Stay informed on new skills, local competitors, and retail trends, applying learnings to improve store experiences.
- Manage and grow BOPIS (buy online, pick up in store) sales.
- Collaborate with the District Manager and staff to analyze operations, customer trends, and results to meet business goals.
- Coach management and staff behaviors to deliver a top-tier customer experience.
- Lead the team with autonomy and judgment to meet or exceed store goals.
- Develop and implement development plans to build team capabilities and improve store operations.
- Create a positive, collaborative work environment supporting growth and succession planning.
- Report to District Manager on business, operations, product performance, and customer feedback.
- Act as a trusted leader, understanding the impact of initiatives on customer experience, workload, and compliance.
- Uphold company policies, values, and mission.
- Lead according to Thrive principles, reinforcing leadership skills among managers.
- Manage store budget to meet business objectives and P&L targets.
- Drive an excellent associate experience through hiring, onboarding, performance feedback, and development.
- Ensure team performance, reduce losses, and meet compliance standards.
- Maintain attractive, safe, and accurately priced merchandise displays.
- Oversee building and grounds maintenance.
- Ensure effective technology use for a seamless multichannel customer experience.
- Communicate effectively and demonstrate problem-solving skills.
- Maximize inventory, cash control, and loss prevention.
- Perform additional duties as needed.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Supervise assistant managers, department managers, and store associates.
- Have authority over hiring, firing, promotions, and assignments of associates.
Essential Qualities for Success
- At least 2 years retail management experience.
- Outgoing, proactive self-starter who enjoys working with people.
- Proficient in Excel and Word; skilled in retail software systems.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, remain flexible, and multi-task.
- Independent worker with minimal supervision.
- Willing to work a 50-hour week, including evenings and weekends.
- Meet federal and local requirements for Firearms License (FFL).
- Capable of using in-store technology and participating in remote onboarding and training.
Physical Requirements
- Good visual acuity.
- Ability to lift/push/pull at least 30 pounds repeatedly and up to 50 pounds intermittently.
- Stand and walk for extended periods.
- Use ladders, pallet jacks, and perform computer work.
- Communicate effectively in person and via handheld devices.
