Position Overview

Goodwill Houston (GWH) is leading change by connecting people and improving the potential for the future of work. The Store Manager reports to the District Director and manages the store and donation area, ensuring efficient operations, excellent customer service, and a productive workforce.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Oversee all management duties including opening/closing, daily operations, and team supervision.
  2. Manage store budget and expense-to-revenue ratios.
  3. Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate team members according to policies and job descriptions.
  4. Maintain availability for management needs beyond scheduled hours.
  5. Adhere to established work schedules unless directed otherwise.
  6. Communicate company goals effectively to the team.
  7. Collaborate with the assistant store manager on scheduling, time sheets, and labor monitoring.
  8. Handle sales transactions and cash accountability properly.
  9. Conduct training, coaching, and performance documentation.
  10. Manage personnel actions, evaluations, and disciplinary procedures.
  11. Complete work orders, purchase orders, and expense reports timely.
  12. Ensure safety protocols are followed and the safety program is managed effectively.
  13. Operate store systems accurately and complete financial/statistical counts.
  14. Oversee donation processing in accordance with policies.
  15. Perform walkthroughs to ensure team meets expectations and proper merchandise rotation.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience preferred.
  • At least 2 years of management/supervisory experience preferred.
  • Retail sales experience preferred.
  • Proficient computer skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Flexible schedule including holidays, evenings, weekends.
  • Reliable transportation required.
Physical and Work Environment

Ability to stand, lift up to 40 lbs., and occasionally move items up to 100 lbs. Work environment is mostly indoors with moderate noise levels.
