Job summary

Benge's Ace Hardware in Carmel, IN is looking for a Store Manager who will own the store's sales, profit, people, and customer experience. You will lead the full store team, manage labor and inventory, and keep the store safe, clean, and well stocked.

This role builds relationships with customers, contractors, and commercial accounts and executes Ace programs. You will report to leadership on store results, staffing, and needs, and drive performance across all store operations.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3+ years in retail management, preferably hardware/home improvement.
• Experience with P&L, labor, margin, and shrink management.
• Ability to hire, train, and develop staff including supervisors.

Hiring: Store Manager

Reports to: President

Store: Benge's Ace Hardware, 2425 Harleston Steet, Carmel, IN

Benge's Ace Hardware is hiring a Store Manager that owns the store's sales, profit, people, and customer experience. This role leads the full store team, manages labor and inventory, and keeps the store safe, clean, and well stocked. The Store Manager builds relationships with customers, contractors, and commercial accounts and carries out Ace and company programs. The position reports to company leadership on store results, staffing, and needs.

Requirements

• Hit sales, margin, labor, and shrink goals; review store results and act on them.
• Hire, train, coach, discipline, and develop the store team, including Assistant Managers and Keyholders.
• Approve schedules and manage payroll hours within budget.
• Manage inventory, ordering, vendor relationships, and special orders; lead physical inventory counts.
• Set merchandising standards, displays, pricing, and seasonal resets in line with Ace and company programs.
• Oversee cash management, deposits, audits, and loss prevention.
• Build relationships with contractors and commercial accounts; resolve escalated customer issues.
• Enforce company policies and safety rules; keep the store clean, safe, and compliant.
• Communicate with company leadership on results, staffing, and store needs.

Job Requirements

Education

High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor's degree preferred.

Years Of Experience

3 or more years of retail management experience; hardware, home improvement, or farm and ranch preferred.

Technology

POS and inventory systems, P&L and sales reports, scheduling tools, Microsoft Office.

Other

Must be able to stand and walk for long periods of time, up to a full shift.

Lift and carry up to 50 lbs. regularly, with help or equipment for heavier items.

Bend, stoop, kneel, reach overhead, and climb ladders.

Operate a pallet jack or hand truck.

Typically 45+ hours per week, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
