Job summary

Ace Hardware in Fort Dodge, IA seeks an Assistant Manager to oversee store operations and help achieve company goals. You will lead the team to deliver top-tier customer service, resolve issues, and maintain product knowledge and store presentation.

Responsibilities include open/close duties, coordinating with the Store Manager, ensuring price changes and signage, maintaining stock, and coaching sales associates and cashiers. Prior retail management experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Open and close the store.
• Work with Store Manager on all aspects of store operations.
• Assist with daily maintenance, orderliness and cleanliness of the sales floor and outdoor merchandise areas.
• Ensure weekly price changes and label updates are completed timely and accurately.
• Maintain back stock levels.
• Assist with cycle counts and negative on-hand reports.
• Assist with merchandise resets and ensure signage is current.
• Assist in presenting a clean and orderly sales floor, including end caps and promotional merchandising.
• Assist in hiring, scheduling, reviewing, rewarding and coaching Sales Associates and Cashiers with Store Manager approval.

• Assist with daily maintenance, orderliness and cleanliness of the sales floor and outdoor merchandise areas.
• Ensure that weekly price changes and label updates are completed timely and accurately.

• Responsible for maintenance of back stock levels.
• Assist to ensure that cycle counts and negative on hand reports are completed timely and accurately.
• Assist with merchandise resets throughout the store.
• Ensure all signage is current in the store.
• Assist in presenting a clean and orderly sales floor, including end caps and promotional and incremental merchandising.

• Assist in hiring, scheduling, reviewing, rewarding and coaching Sales Associates and Cashiers with the approval of the Store Manager.

Requirements and Qualifications:

• High School or GED equivalent. Completion of NHRA Advanced Course in Hardware Retailing recommended.
• Previous retail management experience preferred. Hardware experience preferred.
• Excellent communication skills and problem-solving ability.
• Ability to stand and walk for up to 8 hours, and lift up to 50 lbs regularly.

Additional Information:

The successful applicant must have good communication and problem-solving skills and present a neat, positive appearance. Past retail and or management experience preferred but not required.
