Job summary

Arnold Lumber Company in West Kingston, RI seeks a Store Manager to lead daily operations, drive sales, and ensure exceptional customer service across our lumber operations and door shop.

You will oversee planning, staff development, inventory control, vendor relations, and collaboration with buyers and operations to optimize profitability while upholding safety and quality.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or related field preferred.
• Retail store management, sales, and purchasing experience in the LBM industry preferred.
• Minimum of 3–5 years of proven store management experience.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all store operations including opening/closing procedures and daily tasks.
• Lead the inside sales team for Lumber Operations and Door shop.
• Recruit, direct and motivate staff; develop employees for advancement.
• Manage vendor relationships and inventory to optimize profitability.

Our commitment to quality and excellence in the workplace earned it recognition as a winner in the Providence Business News Best Places to Work in Rhode Island. #PBNBPTWIf you are seeking a rewarding position with an opportunity for career growth – we want, YOU on our team!PURPOSE:The Store Manager is responsible for managing full store responsibilities and coordinating with other department managers to optimize sales and profitability while satisfying customer and employee needs.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Oversee all store operations ensuring completion of daily opening and closing procedures, project completion, categorized inventory control, merchandising, delivered material processes, and customer serviceDevelop monthly, quarterly, and annual plans for operations and profitability of your responsibilityLead the inside sales team of both Lumber Operations and Door shop within the West Kingston StoreRecruit, direct and motivate direct employees to attain goalsDevelop and train existing employees for future advancement within the organizationAssist in developing and administrating training plans to ensure succession within the sales departmentBuild relationships and partnerships with vendors to assist with the development of staffEnsure quality customer service through personal interaction with contractors and retail customers by resolution of customer complaintsWork with the Buyers to help manage merchandise levels by ensuring that the proper ordering, receiving, pricing and merchandising procedures are followedWork with the Operations Manager to ensure expected customer service levels are being maintainedWork with the Outside Sales staff to leverage new and existing relationships to continue to grow the businessMonitor all new and current customers including set-up of accounts, changes to accounts, and involvement in collections with the Credit ManagerOTHER JOB DUTIES:Thorough understanding of company policies and practices.Ensure compliance with all applicable company policies and proceduresAll other duties – Perform all other duties as assigned including carrying out responsibilities, performing duties, using skills, and working in conditions necessary to perform all assigned tasksLEADERSHIP:Plan, delegate, and control work assignmentsReview salaries/wages of others and recommend changes as appropriateRecommend new hires, promotions, transfers, demotions, disciplinary action, and terminations of employmentConduct performance reviews.Establish departmental budget and have sole accountability for the results as measured against the budgetHave managerial level responsibilities for a clearly identifiable program and departmentCOMPETENCIES/SKILLS:Aggressive sales mentality and goal-driven managementStrong leadership and management skills with the ability to motivate staffExcellent customer service abilitiesStrong relationship team-building experienceExcellent verbal and written communication skillsOrganized with attention to detailWorks well under pressure and deadlines; ability to multitask.
